Dallas, Jan. 7, 2010 - NewHope Bariatrics announced today the opening of a new outpatient weight-loss surgery center for the treatment of severe obesity. NewHope Bariatrics has partnered with Dr. Frank Felts, a leading bariatric surgeon in the Dallas area, to perform minimally invasive weight loss surgeries, including the LAP-BAND® System and the ROSE Procedure, in an outpatient surgery center.

Dr. Frank Felts has relocated his office to share the new building in The Colony with NewHope Bariatrics. Dr. Felts is board certified and has performed more than 5,000 laparoscopic procedures, including over 1,700 Laparoscopic Banding procedures since October 2006, making him one of the most experienced physicians in the field. Dr. Felts is one of the only surgeons in the DFW area to perform the ROSE procedure, a procedure without any incisions, for patients who have regained their weight following a prior gastric bypass surgery. Dr. Felts is also one of the nation's first surgeons to adopt Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS), which makes it possible to perform the gastric banding procedure through one incision rather than the four to six incisions usually required to complete gastric band procedures. "In most cases the incision can be placed within the belly button, making it almost impossible to see once it has healed," said Dr. Felts.
